Portrait photography?
As a portrait photographer I capture real people authentically.
The primary purpose of a portrait is to visually represent a person, capturing not only their likeness but also their identity, personality, and potentially even their character.
What do I want to achieve as a portrait photographer?

Portraits That Capture Likeness & Identity
I aim to create recognizable images of you, but beyond appearance I want to explore identity, personality, and even your mood in your portrait.
Once created they are a historical record of you, documenting who you were and how you wanted to be seen at that time. An anchor in the past that illustrates the journey you have taken in life.
Your portrait can be used to celebrate yourself or a loved one, commemorate life, or highlight importance. To communicate a story between then and now.
Express Identity & Growth
Portraits can be used to express elements of someone's cultural identity and over time, their growth and development; physically, emotionally and culturally as a person.
In addition to private portrait commissions, I work with companies to create people focussed images for their branding and marketing.

About Me
Daniel Rannoch
I’ve been telling stories all my life. Written, spoken and photographed. Telling people’s stories is what I’m passionate about.
I’ve moved a lot. I’ve lived in England, Ireland, France and now Scotland. Living in all those different places has allowed me to see things with an open mind and a curiosity that feeds into how I create images. Now that I’ve made Edinburgh my home I get to enjoy its vibrancy and culture and it’s the perfect hub to work as a photographer.
I specialise in portraits and branding. It’s the natural progression from my love of storytelling and people centric imagery.
I work in association with Fern Photography, which specialises in weddings and lifestyle photography
